Professor of English George Saunders’ G’88 short story, “The Mom of Bold Action,” was featured in The New Yorker, along with a Q&A with The New Yorker’s fiction editor, Deborah Treisman.

Saunders’ latest work is about a children’s book author whose young son is assaulted by a homeless man. The story addresses questions of justice as the family deals with the fallout and aftermath of the assault.

Saunders, a professor in the Department of English’s creative writing program, is the author of eleven books, including the novel Lincoln in the Bardo, winner of the Man Booker Prize, Tenth of December, which was a finalist for the National Book Award, and A Swim in a Pond in the Rain, a New York Times bestseller.
