AAS Professor Quoted in Spectrum News Story on the History of the Black Church

Joan Bryant, associate professor of African American studies, was interviewed by Spectrum News for a story titled, Examining the history and legacy of the Black church in America.

Bryant, whose research focuses on American religious history, discussed the role of the church and religion in offering the Black community sanctuary, assistance, and a means of justifying the value of their lives during the time of slavery.
