Dean Karin Ruhlandt recently welcomed four new members to the Dean’s Advisory Board of the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S): Ron Chin ’97, Stephen Huttler ’71, Dr. Gezzer Ortega ’03 and Michael Putziger ’67. They join a group of more than 30 alumni, parents and friends of A&S who serve as stewards and advocates for the College. The Board advises the Dean and helps develop resources to advance A&S’ strategic objectives.

“These new Board members bring a depth of career experience and perspective from finance, law, medicine and real estate development. Their insight and perspective will further enhance our students’ educational opportunities,” says Dean Karin Ruhlandt. “They have all taken unique paths to success, which serves as a testament to the power and flexibility of a liberal arts education. We welcome their vision and commitment to the College.”

New advisory board members include:

Ron Chin ’97

Ron Chin is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Development at Lizard Investors, an asset management firm that specializes in international small- to mid-cap equities. Before joining Lizard in 2017, Chin was a vice president at Goldman Sachs and served in various roles in Prime Services from 2000 to 2017. Most recently he was responsible for Prime Brokerage Sales for the Midwest and Texas. From 1997 to 2000 he was an associate at Morgan Stanley and held various positions within their Operations Division. Chin earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from A&S | Maxwell.

Stephen Huttler ’71

Stephen Huttler is a senior partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, a law firm focusing on energy, financial services, real estate and technology industries. Huttler specializes in international transactions, disputes and regulatory issues. Prior to his appointment as senior partner, Huttler was managing partner of Shaw Pittman before its 2005 merger with Pillsbury and served as executive vice chair of the combined firm. Huttler earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from A&S | Maxwell and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Dr. Gezzer Ortega ’03

Dr. Gezzer Ortega is the Center for Surgery and Public Health’s lead faculty for research and innovation for equitable surgical care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on developing and implementing solutions to address surgical inequities to provide equitable care for underserved groups including, but not limited to, racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ people and people with low socioeconomic status. Ortega majored in biochemistry in A&S and minored in information management and technology in the School of Information Studies. He received a medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Michael Putziger ’67

Michael Putziger is chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of WinnCompanies, based in Boston, Massachusetts. WinnCompanies develops, owns, and manages public, affordable, mixed-income, market-rate, military, and luxury properties throughout the United States. He currently serves as a director of Enterprise Bank, based in Lowell, Massachusetts. Putziger holds a B.A. in political science from A&S | Maxwell and a J.D. from Boston University’s School of Law.
