The College of Arts and Sciences Dean Announcement, January 30, 2015

Syracuse University Interim Vice Chancellor and Provost Liz Liddy has selected Karin Ruhlandt as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

In her comments, Ruhlandt stated that serving as dean of the College is an honor and an opportunity that she does not take for granted.

“What I am perhaps most excited about is the opportunity to bridge the gap between the humanities, the natural and life sciences, mathematics, and the social sciences,” remarked Ruhlandt, also the College's Distinguished Professor Chemistry since 2009. “To be a truly exceptional College of Arts and Sciences, we must raise the profile and build the programs within and across all disciplines--not just in the College, but across the entire campus.”

Ruhlandt joined the Syracuse faculty in 1993 and has served as interim dean of the college since July 2014.
