The Department of Chemistry in Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences recognized 18 students for academic achievement during the department’s annual awards ceremony and reception on May 2, 2012. The following students received awards:

•    Gershon Vincow Award for Excellence In General Chemistry: Danny Heng, Simon Pun, and Kewei Xu

•    CRC Handbook Award for Exceptional Performance in Honors Chemistry: Elizabeth A. McMahon and Elliott J. Russell

•    Department Award for Exceptional Performance in Analytical Chemistry: Brianna R. Schmidt

•    George Wiley Award for Exceptional Performance in Organic Chemistry: Theresa Mary Williams and Kelsey E. Monteith

•    Department Award for Exceptional Performance in Inorganic Chemistry: Edward P. Prybolsky

•    Willem Prins Award for Exceptional Performance in Physical Chemistry: Alexander W. Keeling

•    Department Award for Exceptional Performance in Biochemistry: Kyle J. Smith

•    Birge Award for Exceptional Performance in Biochemistry Research: Soreen Y. Cyphers

•    Clayton Spencer Award for Exceptional Performance in Undergraduate Research, sponsored by Alpha Chi Sigma: Louis V. Solomon and Vivian Yaci Yu

•    Department Award for Overall Excellence in Chemistry: Alex H. Pisapia and Erin M. Duffy

•    Merck Index Award for Outstanding Senior Chemistry Major: Adam J. Brooks

•    William D. Johnson Award for Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant: Tiffany M. Smith
