The Syracuse University chapter of the national mathematics honorary society Pi Mu Epsilon (New York Alpha chapter) welcomed seven new members in Spring 2023. Founded in 1914 at Syracuse University, Pi Mu Epsilon currently has over 350 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States. The primary mission of the honor society is to promote mathematical activities among university students.

Spring 2023 Inductees

• Macy Aiken '25 is a double major in mathematics and philosophy. She finds that these majors pair well, being the quantitative and qualitative reason to (almost) everything.
• Arshjott Bhangu '25 is a double major in mathematics and modern foreign languages. She speaks five languages (French, Italian, English, Hindi and Punjabi) and hopes to know at least ten someday (not counting mathematics).
• Spencer Evans-Cole '26 is a dual major in mathematics and computer science. He enjoys connecting mathematical concepts to computer science, enabling computers to do more complex calculations than humans ever could.
• Lillian Impastato '25 is a mathematics major with a minor in engineering and computer science management. She seeks deeper understanding of how mathematics can be used to explain the pressing problems of our world.
• Aksel Malatak '25 is a dual major in mathematics and computer engineering. He finds that the problem-solving skills acquired in mathematics also apply to other classes and projects, both in and out of school.
• Juliette Mangon '26 is a dual major in mathematics and computer science. She finds that this combination of majors enables one to come up with creative solutions to complex problems.
• Juliana Mini '25 is a double major in mathematics and neuroscience. She values being a part of the SU mathematics community, where one can learn so much from peers, graduate students and faculty mentors.
