The Archimedes Prize is awarded annually by the department in recognition of outstanding achievements in undergraduate mathematics. This year’s winner is Michael Perry (pictured, left). Michael graduated in May 2023 with two bachelor's degrees, one in mathematics from the College of Arts and Sciences and one in computer science from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. In 2022, he received the Euclid Prize and was also awarded a SOURCE Fellowship by the Syracuse Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement. He’ll join the Ph.D. program in the Department of Mathematics in Fall 2023.

The Euclid Prize is awarded annually by the department to the most promising math majors who are not graduating in the year of the award. This year’s winner is Yuming Jiang (pictured, right). Yuming is a double major in mathematics and physics in the College of Arts and Sciences and a student in the Renee Crown University Honors Program. He was also awarded this year’s Erdős Prize for Excellence in Mathematical Problem-Solving, for his performance in the Putnam Competition.
