A team of Syracuse University astrophysicists, led by Ananya Bandopadhyay, a Ph.D. student in physics, and Eric Coughlin, assistant professor of physics, conducted a study to analyze the implications of analytical models used to calculate the properties of supermassive black holes and the stars they engulf.

Their research, published in Astrophysical Journal Letters, was featured in several science websites, including Science Mag, Space Daily and Phys.org.
