A&S Psychology Professor Offers Tips to Enjoy the Holidays in New York Times Article

From the financial burden of gift buying to the hassles of travel, the holiday season can be a stressful time. In a recent New York Times article, authors turned to some of the nation’s top psychologists and sociologists for solutions on how to manage holiday stressors. One of the experts they interviewed was Arts and Sciences Professor Afton Kapuscinski, a clinical psychologist and associate teaching professor of psychology.

Kapuscinski offered tips on how to manage the season’s overwhelming schedule.

“Look at the commitments on your calendar, and decide how much time and energy you are willing to devote to each,” she said. “Think about previous years’ patterns to help you decide what feels right. If that’s difficult, ask a loved one whether your schedule looks manageable. An outside perspective from someone who cares about your best interest can be valuable.”
