Dr. Stephen Maisto was recently awarded the 2018 Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in the category of Lifetime Achievement. This award recognizes Syracuse University faculty who have made extraordinary contributions toward advancing the four pillars of excellence over the arc of their careers while at Syracuse University and beyond.

Dr. Maisto's research involves the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders; mechanisms of risk perception and risk taking, especially as it relates to substance use; HIV prevention and intervention in psychiatric and other populations; integration of behavioral healthcare in the primary care setting; and he is known as a leading expert in veteran issues.
