Carolyn Garland defends dissertation Exploring the Metaphysics of Grief
Congratulations to Carolyn Garland, who successfully defended her dissertation Exploring the Metaphysics of Grief, in April 2021. Below you can see Dr. Garland receiving her doctoral hood at the end of May.
In her dissertation, Dr. Garland examines the question of what, if anything, might make grief utterances such as “In losing her, I lost a part of myself” literally true. Garland’s dissertation research was supported in AY 2021-2022 by a Humanities Center Dissertation Fellowship (http://humcenter.syr.edu/dissertation-fellows.html).
