Originally from Syracuse, New York, Sean Louis Peters (he/him) is a Ph.D. candidate in Music and Sound Studies at Cornell University. He is currently working on his dissertation, which is a broad survey of the relationship between the cassette tape and punk scenes, using the cassette to explore the development and dissemination of punk. He has presented his research at the American Musicological Society, the Society for Ethnomusicology, and the Punk Scholars Network. He holds a B.A. in Music from Texas Woman’s University, an M.A. in Ethnomusicology from the University of North Texas, and an M.A. in Musicology from Cornell University.
