Joy Nyokabi Karinge is a writer, researcher, and scholar activist. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and a DALF C1 diploma in French. Originally from Kenya, her work intersects at the nexus of African History, African Political Economy and African International Relations. Joy is passionate about decolonization and anti-racism and carries out research and advocacy campaigns through her organization, Afrika Yangu. Joy is currently working on her thesis project, exploring Britain’s withholding of Kenya’s ‘Migrated Archives’ as a denial to Kenyans of access to their history. Her project led her to London, UK and Nairobi, Kenya in Summer 2022 thanks to the support of the African American Studies department, the Maxwell African Students Union and the Mark & Peale Clements Internship Award.
