Originally from Toronto, Aarti earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario, and her M.A. in South Asian Studies from Columbia University in 2015. Her Master's thesis was entitled "Secular Conflict: Challenges Confronting the Construction of a Hindu Sacred Space in Chino Hills, California, and her research interests include modes of Hindu worship in the North American diaspora through the lenses of space and place, immigration, and politics. Her current research focuses on domestic worship. Aarti has studied Sanskrit, Hindi, and Gujarati. In addition to her coursework, Aarti is also working on a certificate of advanced studies in South Asian Studies
