Brianna Hammerle joined the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Arts and Sciences in Summer 2022 as an Assistant Teaching Professor. She is providing clinical instruction and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in the Gebbie Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and teaching Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Prior to joining Syracuse University, Hammerle worked as a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist at Upstate University Hospital for several years, where she also supervised graduate student externs. She also has previous clinical experience in adult skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, as well as early intervention and pre-K services.

Hammerle’s clinical and teaching interests include evaluation and treatment of adults with aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, cognitive-linguistic impairment, swallowing disorders, traumatic brain injury, voice, and augmentative/alternative communication. Brianna holds certifications in Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSIMP) and Ampcare’s Effective Swallow Protocol for the use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation for the treatment of dysphagia.
