Susan Parks, associate professor in the Department of Biology, has co-authored an article appearing on the December cover of the journal Science. The article, “Why whales are big but not bigger: Physiological and ecological limits in the age of ocean giants,” examines how the world’s largest animal became so large. Through field-collected data, researchers look at how factors like prey availability impact whale size. Read the full article.
