Genevieve García de Müeller, assistant professor of writing studies, rhetoric and composition and director of Writing Across the Curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences, is a recipient of an American Fellowship from The American Association of University Women (AAUW). The grant will support García de Müeller’s academic research in rhetoric, which is the technique of using language effectively and persuasively. Her most recent project is a book titled, Shifting Landscapes: The Deliberative Rhetoric of Citizenship in U.S. Immigration Policy, which examines how the framing of immigration policy affects undocumented persons. The book is tentatively scheduled to be published in 2021. AAUW is one of the world’s oldest leading supporters of graduate women’s education, awarding more than $115 million in fellowships, grants and awards to 13,000 recipients from more than 105 countries since 1888.
