Three Women of Chuck’s Donuts,” a fiction piece by Anthony Veasna So (pictured, photo by Chris Sackes), M.F.A. candidate in the creative writing program in the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S), has been published in The New Yorker. It tells the story of a Cambodian-American mother and her two daughters, who together run a doughnut shop in California. So opened up about the process of writing the fiction piece in an interview with the New Yorker. In it, he credited the M.F.A. program at Syracuse University for helping him pinpoint his strengths as a writer. The New Yorker has also posted a podcast of So reading his story.
