THE PHYSICS OF CANCER Friday, October 6 3-4 p.m. Physics Building, Room 202-204

Lisa Manning, associate professor of physics, will discuss her latest research into cancer-cell behavior–specifically, how and when cells are able to leave tumors. She will discuss how cell shape and cell mechanics are used to quantify tumor invasiveness, in hopes of giving patients the treatment they need.

STARGAZING AT HOLDEN OBSERVATORY Friday, October 6  7:30-9 p.m. Holden Observatory

Join professors and graduate students from the Department of physics for a special look at the nighttime sky. Climb the winding staircase of Holden Observatory, the second-oldest building on campus, and peer through its magnificent, 1887 telescope. (Weather permitting.)
