La Casita Cultural Center seeks proposals for Summer Visual Arts Residency

La Casita Cultural Center, 109 Otisco St., Syracuse, is seeking proposals from local artists for its 2012 Summer Visual Arts Residency Program. The selected artist will use La Casita’s art gallery as a creative space in which to work on personal projects, exhibition artwork, and to interact with the public. A materials stipend of $800 and a professional honorarium of $1,000 will be provided.

Onondaga County adult residents with strong personal and/or cultural connections to Latina/o or Latin American cultures, especially those of Latino/Latin American heritage, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must share an interest in motivating and inspiring local communities, especially local Latina/o children and youth.

Deadline for submissions is June 30, 2012.  A jury composed of local artists and the director of La Casita will select three finalists who will be interviewed by jury members. The selected artist will be in residency at La Casita from Aug. 1 to 30, 2012.
