Psychology Professor Aesoon Park was awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health to welcome undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to Syracuse University for summer health research.

Ellyn Riley, associate professor in Communication Science and Disorders, has received an R21 grant from NIDCD to conduct research focused on improving aphasia outcomes though TDCS-mediated attention management.

Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) announces that Julia Riley ’20, a double major in biochemistry and neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences, recently received the first place award of the 2020 Norma Slepecky Undergraduate Research Prize. The annual prize is awarded to undergraduate researchers in their junior or senior year who demonstrate excellence in research.

Nandhini Rajagopal, a biomedical and chemical engineering doctoral student in Professor Shikha Nangia’s research group in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, has won the American Chemical Society’s prestigious Chemical Computing Group Research Excellence Award. This award recognizes exceptional research conducted by graduate students in the field of computational chemistry. The winners of the award are chosen based on the quality and significance of the research. Rajagopal will receive financial support to present her work at the national ACS meeting in the fall.

Three A&S graduate programs associated with the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience graduate concentration rank among U.S. News and World Report top 50: Audiology (#29), Speech and Language Pathology (#32) and Clinical Psychology (#50).  Biological Sciences come in at #112.

Two Neuroscience undergraduates (Alex Aguirre and Margaret Garber) have been named as the 2020 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor the University bestows.

Former Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Graduate student, Dr. Sheila Shahidzadeh Sears nominated for the 2020 Epilepsia Open Prize.
