Call for Nominations to CAS-MAX Diversity Council

Posted on: Aug. 4, 2021

The College of Arts & Sciences along with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs invites nominations for staff and student representatives* to serve on the inaugural CAS-MAX Diversity Council for the 2021-2022 academic year. This Council was established by College by-laws in Spring 2020. Its charge is to advance the goals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within our respective Colleges with faculty, staff, and student representatives from all the three units across the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences including Math.

Interested persons may nominate themselves or others. All nominations must be submitted by Wednesday August 18, 2021 to casdiversity@syr.edu. Nominations should include the nominee’s name, their pronouns (if preferred), titles or academic standing (when applicable) and Syracuse email addresses.  Final selections will be based on the most fair and equitable distribution of representativeness across disciplines and roles within the Colleges. Notice of final membership will be announced around September 15.

For questions, please email Kishi Animashaun Ducre, Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Arts & Sciences at kanimash@syr.edu,  or Gladys McCormick, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at gmmcormi@syr.edu.

* Faculty nominations were sought in Spring 2021 as part of the annual call for nomination to the Colleges’ standing committees
