Woohoo for art history alum Tammy Hong (B.A. '18). She was recently featured on the Decorative Arts Trust Facebook page. Read on: With support from the Decorative Arts Trust, Tammy Hong, a recent triple major BA graduate in art history, studio art, and history at Syracuse University, was able to attend Historic Deerfield’s Summer Fellowship Program. While at Deerfield, Tammy conducted object based archival research on a Chinese tea album (c. 1790) with 24 watercolor paintings made for the export market. Her research centered around the tea album’s dual histories by highlighting elements of Chinese culture in the images that were often missing from Western scholarship on early Chinese-export watercolors. She emphasized "I came to Historic Deerfield with the desire to diversify my skills as an aspiring museum professional and to discover my own sense of place in the colonial American landscape as a Chinese-American. The Historic Deerfield Fellowship Program was a rewarding professional development experience and a journey of self discovery."

Mark your calendars for #GivingTuesday on November 27, 2018 to support exciting new research from young professionals like Tammy through the Trust's Emerging Scholars Program. We hope to raise $1000 this year to put toward our Continuing Education Grants, which fund meaningful educational opportunities for rising professionals in the field. #TrustEmergingScholars
