Get involved

Your bond with A&S | Maxwell does not end with Commencement. For many alumni, their involvement with Syracuse increases as they build their careers and want to start sharing their experiences with current students. There are many ways you can stay connected.

Mentor students via phone or video chat.

As students face disruption to their college experience due to COVID-19, we are stepping up our efforts to provide them with additional opportunities to connect with alumni like you through phone calls and video chats. Speaking with you about your career journey and what it is like to work in your industry will deliver a very special dimension to our students’ education, and a fulfilling experience for you.

Interested? Simply indicate your availability and how you can help in our online form. We’ll present the opportunities to our students and help facilitate a connection based on interests. While we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to match you up with a student, we’ll make every effort to do so!

Share your work experience.

Wish you could give your 19-year-old self advice about work and career? You can't go back in time, but you can help guide today's students through activities such as:

  • career conversations,
  • classroom talks,
  • hosting interns, or
  • mentoring.

Your involvement does make a different. Read how one alumna helped Antonia Mascitelli ’20 discover a potential career.

Support immersion trips to major business areas.

The Office of Undergraduate Academic and Career Advising leads immersion trips to major metropolitan areas, so students can network, learn about career opportunities and gain a fuller understanding of their fields. A&S alumni have been instrumental in in creating and hosting these in-depth programs.

Winston Fisher '96 founded a weeklong seminar in New York City.

Tom Toomey '95 made possible a three-day Stocks and Finance immersion in Wall Street and related businesses.

Send off new students.

Host or join in these fun, informal gatherings for new students and their parents in your hometown. It's a great way to give them their first dose of Orange Spirit!
