Humanities and Social Sciences Funding Opportunities

Key websites for funding in the humanities and social sciences are the following:

• The National Endowment for the Humanities

• The American Council of Learned Societies (administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars)

• Fulbright-Hayes (administered by the U.S. Department of Education)

• John Simon Memorial Guggenheim Foundation

National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend Program 

The University annually nominates two faculty members for this competitive grant. Successful candidates receive up to $6,000 for two consecutive months of research and writing.  Faculty may self-nominate by submitting a form through the University’s Office of Sponsored Programs. Additional Funding Opportunities

Staff members in SU’s Office of Sponsored Programs will help faculty members with their grant applications and budget development. OSP will also help junior faculty members develop a strategic grant application plan for their first three to five years at SU.
