    Biographical Information

    Erica Levenson received a doctorate in musicology from Cornell University in 2017, with a focus on eighteenth-century French and English opera. Her dissertation, “Traveling Tunes: French Comic Opera and Theater in London, 1714–45” explores the musical exchanges between England and France that were pertinent to constructions of national identity and political dynamics in Anglo-French history. Erica also focuses on musical borrowing in contemporary American music and was awarded a Don M. Randel Fellowship to teach a course on this topic. Her research has been further supported by Cornell’s Society for Humanities, as well as the American Musicological Society’s Jan LaRue Travel Grant.
