The College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) welcomes Jessica M. Allman as an administrative specialist in the Dean’s Office. She brings more than a decade of professional experience to the position, which includes planning, coordinating, budgeting and executing special events.

Allman succeeds Ryan Bince G’17, who is leaving Syracuse to pursue doctoral studies in rhetoric and public culture at Northwestern University.

“I've studied the liberal arts in college, so I am passionate about them,” says Allman, who minored in history and arts management at SUNY Oswego, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations. “I look forward to putting my versatility to work as a member of the A&S family.”

In her new role, Allman will support major A&S events, such as those during Concovation and Opening Weekend; assist search committees and special initiatives; and provide administrative support to the Dean’s office. She sees herself as a liaison between the Dean’s Office and the College’s 16 academic departments, eight interdisciplinary programs and six administrative units.

“I want to be a go-to resource for faculty and staff in the College and, when needed, across campus,” the Syracuse native says.

Managing varied, multiple projects is nothing new to Allman, who comes to A&S from K.J. Electric, a premier electric motor distributor. From 2016-19, she was the company’s executive assistant, coordinating aspects of operations, marketing and human resources. Before that, she spent seven years as K.J.’s marketing manager.

Allman began her career as an office assistant at IMS Inc., a pioneer in the presort mail industry.

At SUNY Oswego, she earned a certificate in event planning, and participated in Lambda Pi Eta (the National Communication Association’s official honor society), the Public Relations Student Society of America, WTOP-TV 10 and the Del Sarte Dance Club.
