Welcome Intra-University Transfer Students

The College of Arts and Sciences welcomes students transferring from other colleges within Syracuse University. The College aims to support students in their academic endeavors and pursuits, and provide a positive experience for intra-university transfer students as they transition to the College. To assist them in the transfer process, students are encouraged to review our academic policies and procedures in regards to degree completion requirements and the transfer credit evaluation process.

Application Process

Any student interested in internally transferring to the College must attend an IUT Information Session (Visit IUT Session dates page.) The College will review applications for Intra-University Transfer on a continuing basis throughout the academic year. Students interested in transferring into the College must attend an information session in order to obtain the application materials, which are held throughout the semester. The application deadlines are December 15 for the spring semester and July 15 for the fall semester. Applicants who are making satisfactory progress and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher will be admitted to the College. Students with a current cumulative GPA of less than 3.0 should submit a letter with the application, explaining the reason(s) for prior academic problems, why they believe they will be academically successful in the College, and what major they are interested in pursuing. Students who will have junior standing when entering the College must include a plan of study form signed by their intended major department. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The Associate Dean of Advising & Career Services will review applications. Students will be notified by email prior to the start of the semester.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

When a student is admitted to the College through the Intra-University Transfer process, all previous transfer credit received from other institutions will be re-evaluated by the College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Arts and Sciences awards transfer credit upon the receipt of all official transcripts received from prior institutions and according to the College's Transfer Credit Evaluation guidelines.
