Transfer Students' Guide to Selecting Courses

Welcome to The College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs!

The College encourages all incoming students to start early in taking charge of their academic experience at Syracuse University. Your first step in that direction is to provide information to your advisor about the courses you are interested in, so we can build your class schedule for Fall 2019.

As a transfer student, please check that you have received (and reviewed) your preliminary transfer credit evaluation e-mail. In order to make sure we have your latest information regarding credits taken at other institutions, we need you to request that an official, final transcript is forwarded to our office, at the following address:

Academic and Career Advising
Syracuse University
329 Hall of Languages
Syracuse NY 13244

If you completed coursework during the spring semester, you should wait until those grades have been applied before requesting a final transcript. Once we have processed your final transcripts, you will receive an updated credit evaluation letter or email outlining the number of transfer credits that have been accepted, as well as their SU equivalencies.

We look forward to working with you this summer, and meeting you in the fall!

FTES Guide for Transfer Students

Advising and Career Services has designed a step-by-step guide to assist you in using the College's online course selection system, the First Term Enrollment Selections (FTES.) We strongly recommend that you read this document, "Course Selection Guide for Transfer Students," before making course selections on FTES. FTES is available beginning May 20, 2019 under Student Services on MySlice (myslice.syr.edu.) Selecting your first-term courses will consist of the following steps:

  • Review "Course Selection Guide for Transfer Students" and related materials
  • Review your Transfer Credit Evaluation Summary
  • Consult with your College Advisor, who will work with you individually in mid May and June
  • Submit your finalized FTES by the July 2nd deadline
