General Information

The Biophysical Science major is a demanding, but rewarding option for students with strong interests in the physical and mathematical aspects of the life sciences. The program provides students opportunities to pursue interests that lie between the traditional disciplines of biology, chemistry, and physics.

Biophysical science graduates pursue careers in such fields as bioinformatics, proteomics, and cell signaling. Combined with a strong background in the liberal arts, the program prepares students for a variety of other careers, including graduate work in the health professions or biophysical sciences.

Requirements

The B.A. in biophysical science requires a minimum of 61 credits of class work, including 55 credits of specified courses, 18 credits of upper-division course work in biology and physics are required, as are 3 credits of upper-division laboratory work in biology or physics are also required.
